Turning an idea into an investment

A slick prototype and strategic toolkit to empower a startup to raise capital and launch with confidence and credibility.

A slick prototype and strategic toolkit to empower a startup to raise capital and launch with confidence and credibility.

Situation

Mindora came to us with a problem: they needed validation and clarity on their product idea to ensure it would solve a problem in the market, and once they had that they needed to raise investment in order to create it.

Co-founder and CEO Will Mellors-Blair had a vision - to create an AI-driven workplace wellbeing platform to help companies and HR departments around the world to engage with staff and address issues, in order to boost employee performance.

However to build this kind of platform requires substantial investment, and to attract investment requires a prototype and brand toolkit to bring the vision to life and make it stand out as an irresistible proposition.

We partnered with Will in the past, so it was great to work with him again. We put forward a bespoke toolkit package that would put him in the perfect position to entice essential pre-seed funding.

Investment-ready toolkit:

  • A compelling brand identity
  • An intuitive, structured, well-designed prototype
  • A website to bring functionality and core benefits to life
  • A pitch deck to give investors captivating context

Solution

At nuom we are user-centred in everything we do. That means if we’re supporting a startup or designing national health services, we work with stakeholders and representative users to absolutely ensure that we build the right product or service that solves a problem for them.

For Mindora we did this by carrying out a design sprint, to turn their visionary idea into a fully designed and interactive platform.

But most importantly, we then carried out two weeks of user testing, with real market segmented users, to get essential feedback on the prototype, in order to iterate and improve, and then user-test new updates, to create the best possible design for end-users.

This resulted in a modular approach to the service (discover, observe, address) along with customisable options.

It also allowed Mindora to sell the service as they user tested with key target customers, which resulted in 10 new potential customers before the product was built.

While the brand identity and user interface were designed to create a feeling of clarity and simplicity for users. And the workflow was designed to be easy to use and intuitive (with generative AI prompts to guide users).

User feedback was exceptionally positive, meaning that changes were minimal and instead extra features were added including a dashboard and analytics page.

A slick prototype and strategic toolkit to empower a startup to raise capital and launch with confidence and credibility.

Outcome

This process created a high-fidelity prototype that looks, feels, and works like the real thing - as the service was envisioned - to allow investors to click through and explore the service fully.

The prototype is based on invaluable qualitative data that ensures the product works as it should, with the service idea and component features all validated by target customers, which imbues it with credibility.

While a brand strategy, sales-focussed website and compelling investment deck offered the client everything they needed to be able to jump straight unto raising pre-seed investment. Meaning they hit the ground running from day one, with the ability to impress investors  immediately, all before any development work has begun.

They have a strong validated proposition and brand message, along with a clear product roadmap, as direction on what needs to be built and the costs and timeframes involved, which provides instant credibility during investment discussions.

This has been a collaboration that offered real strategic expertise and insight, and got the best out of users and stakeholders, to bring a great idea to life in the most efficient and effective way possible.

Ultimately this has empowered Mindora to raise capital in order to now make product development a reality.

I’d worked with nuom before, with a deep understanding of the quality of the teams, and the workflow involved, so for me it was a no-brainer to partner with them again.

It’s important to never act on assumption. Everything should be done through validation. And that’s what nuom is all about, and what sets nuom apart. To get vital user feedback and use it to drive product development.

The fidelity of the prototype is exceptional, it’s been so well-built, allowing us to use it as a lead generation sales tool and to have licensing conversations already, all before having a version readily available.

The whole goal was to get investor-ready. Having a prototype that investors can click through and buy-into. And having this toolkit of a prototype, website, and pitch deck has now directly enabled us to start raising capital for development and launch.
